Forged in Fire: My Story
My name is Dakota DeForge. Growing up on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and the historic Fairhaven/ New Bedford Harbor, I developed a deep connection to the sea. The salty air and the sound of crashing waves inspired a lifelong love for the ocean’s mysteries.
From an early age, I was drawn to the arts, expressing my creative side through sculpture, painting, poetry, tattoo design, and drawing. Finding a medium that combines the elements of earth, fire, and water, wood-burning has become my true passion.
Incorporating driftwood into my creations allows me to transform remnants of the ocean into art that tells tales of the deep. My work is a tribute to the sea and the timeless allure of its secrets.
Tempered by Design: The Company
Seaside Siren is a small business established in 2024 by pyrography artist, Dakota DeForge. Inspired by the depths of the oceans, mythical sea creatures, and the haunting beauty of maritime folklore, Dakota transforms driftwood and raw wood into art.
Each piece of driftwood is one of a kind, carefully collected by the artist from local beaches, cleaned, sun-dried, and then transformed with a hand-burned sketch.
Through her passion for wood-burning and love of the ocean Dakota creates art that is a tribute to the sea’s eternal enticement.
